MITRE’s Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Program Division is seeking a highly skilled Cyber Advisor to provide strategic guidance and expertise in Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO), ensuring the protection and resilience of our missile defense systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cyberspace defense, cybersecurity, risk management, and missile defense technologies.
The job is a Senior Principal Step, Colorado Springs, CO, Huntsville, AL, and/or Ft. Belvoir, VA-based position; this work location is on-site and required to effectively foster staff and government relationships and shape the direct work program.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Lead MITRE’s cyberspace defense and cybersecurity support to MDA.
Develop and implement comprehensive cyberspace defense and cybersecurity strategies to protect MDA assets and infrastructure.
Advise Government and MITRE senior leadership on emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cyberspace defense and cybersecurity measures into system design and operations.
Contribute to cyberspace defense missions and incident response efforts, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate and resolve cyber incidents.
Stay abreast of and communicate the latest cyberspace defense and cybersecurity trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
Provide training and mentorship to cyber personnel, fostering a culture of security awareness and continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in cyber security engineering, computer science, information technology or similar technical degree; or 10 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 7 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances. This position requires ability to maintain Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in cyberspace defense and cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a leadership or advisory role.
Strong understanding of missile defense systems and related technologies.
Proven experience in risk management, incident response, and cybersecurity policy development.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent are highly desirable.
This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Department of Defense (DoD) Cybersecurity Defense strategies, policies, and implementations.
Experience in developing and implementing cybersecurity roadmaps and standards.
Knowledge of threat intelligence and adversary emulation techniques.
Master’s Degree in cybersecurity engineering or similar field and with at least 12 years of experience
