The MITRE’s Missile Defense Division Office (N260) is looking for an Information Technology/Cybersecurity journeyman to support enduring and emerging mission requirements at the Huntsville Site. This is accomplished by delivering timely, effective, and sustainable capabilities to various projects across MNS and MPS sector offices helping to ensure the warfighter’s & homeland’s mission success. The successful candidate will have experience in:
Apply full range of knowledge to maintain technical security of information systems processing collateral and controlled unclassified information
Work in a mixed, classified environment where there are government compliance audits
Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure systems and network devices to comply with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) & Defense Counterintelligence & Security Agency (DCSA) requirements
Maintain records on workstations, servers, routers, firewalls, network switches, etc. to include system upgrades
Update servers, clients, applications, antivirus updates, maintain Active Directory, DNS, Continuous Monitoring logging, SCAP, etc.
Assist Lab Manager/ISSM with coordination between sponsors, MITRE project leaders, and MITRE’s accreditation officials to obtain formal accreditation to operate classified information systems
Research new hardware / software products to acquire life cycle replacements and maintain software licenses
Apply security patches and update Anti-Virus
Have a familiarity with network concepts, Microsoft Windows (10/11), Microsoft Server 2019/2022), and Linux operating systems, client-server architectures, virtualization technologies (VMware ESXi 7/8), and basic troubleshooting concepts
Independently identify relevant technologies/topics and learn new technical skills
Participate in continuous monitoring of classified systems per security control CA-7 of NIST 800-53 Rev 4, with 397 base controls & 1.6K assessment procedures
Perform daily data transfers in support project needs
Assist with monthly vulnerability scans using Tenable Security Center, review results, & remediate noncompliance
Serve as a member of the Configuration Control Board (CCB) to review and provide technical assistance with system design and modifications
Support site audio/visual teleconferencing systems during scheduled meetings to ensure successful system operations
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires 5 years of experience and an associate’s degree in relevant discipline, or a minimum of 3 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI
In accordance with DoD 8570.01M, the selected individual must meet the requirements of an IAT Level II as a condition of employment and computing environment training/certification (Sec+, Net+, CCNA, etc.)
2-3 years relevant system administration experience
This position requires an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum BS in related course of study
Security+ Certification / 8570 Certification – IAT Level II
Must possess certification within 6-months of hire date
3-5 years of relevant experience
DoD Top Secret Clearance (will accept Secret)
