Department Summary:

MITRE’s Cyber Threat Intelligence and Adversary Emulation department is seeking a Group Leader responsible for first-line people leadership. We are seeking a talented professional to join our leadership team for this Bedford, McLean, San Diego, Colorado Springs, or Huntsville-based hybrid position. Our department is responsible for delivering an advancing MITRE’s cyber threat intelligence and adversary emulation expertise across all of MITRE’s national security, public sector, and private sector sponsors.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Staff-Management: Provide day-to-day administrative management for 6-10 people. As required, drive recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding for the group. Communicate regularly with group members to ensure well-being, engagement, and job satisfaction.

  • Career Development: Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance for group members to grow them in their careers and help them be impactful contributors. Act as an advocate for training, project placement, and work-based skill development.

  • Performance Management: Seek information and feedback on group members' performance and recommend corrective/development action when needed. Conduct annual performance assessments and regular clear conversations.

  • Quality Management: Promote a culture of quality, excellence, teamwork, staff development, continued learning, innovation, evaluation, and benchmarking to ensure continuous improvement within the department and on all aspects of the department's work program.

  • Leadership Team Engagement: Provide leadership and collaborate with the Department Manager, Capability Leads, and other Group Leads in the collaborative process of steering the department, and function as a part of the Department Management Team; back up for Department Manager as required/needed; and ensure staff understand the division and department strategy and direction.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 + years of relevant experience; or the equivalent combination of higher education and/or real-world experience

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain & maintain a US government clearance.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with department leadership to create an effective team.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and mentor staff.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate, network and negotiate across matrixed teams, departments, and divisions.

  • Experience solving complex cyber operations challenges

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to network and develop key relationships across MITRE’s Cyber Operations and Effects Innovation Center, other Innovation Centers in MITRE Labs, and our program division partners.

  • Knowledge of MITRE’s FFRDC model, how MITRE works, and how MITRE best delivers work, including existing networks within MITRE

Salary compensation range and midpoint:

$118,000 - $147,500 - $177,000 Annual
